COMUNICATO DELLA SALA STAMPA: UDIENZA AL SEGRETARIO GENERALE DEL COMITATO CENTRALE DEL PARTITO COMUNISTA DEL VIÊT NAM, 22.01.2013
Questa mattina il Santo Padre Benedetto XVI ha ricevuto in Udienza il Segretario Generale del Comitato Centrale del Partito Comunista del Viêt Nam, Sua Eccellenza il Sig. Nguyên Phu Trong. Successivamente il Segretario Generale e il Suo seguito hanno incontrato Sua Eminenza il Cardinale Tarcisio Bertone, Segretario di Stato, accompagnato da Sua Eccellenza Mons. Dominique Mamberti, Segretario per i Rapporti con gli Stati.
È la prima volta che un Segretario Generale del Partito Comunista del Viêt Nam incontra il Sommo Pontefice ed alti responsabili della Segreteria di Stato. Nei cordiali colloqui sono stati trattati temi di interesse per il Viêt Nam e la Santa Sede, esprimendo l’auspicio che presto possano essere risolte alcune situazioni pendenti e che possa rafforzarsi la proficua collaborazione esistente.

This morning the Holy Father Benedict XVI received in audience the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, His Excellency Nguyên Phú Trong. First Secretary Trong and his entourage then went on to meet with Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone, S.D.B., accompanied by Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, Secretary for Relations with States.
This is the first time that a general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam has met with the Supreme Pontiff and other administrators of the Secretariat of State. During the course of cordial discussions, topics of interest to Vietnam and the Holy See were covered, expressing the hope that some pending situations may be resolved and that the existing fruitful cooperation may be strengthened.
