This morning, the Holy Father received in audience H.E. Pál Schmitt, President of the Republic of Hungary, who later met with Cardinal Tarcision= Bertone, Secretary of State, and Mons. Dominique Mamberti, Secretary for Foreign Relations. Their talks dwelt on the situation in Hungary with particular reference to the contribution of the Catholic Church to the common good, especially in family and social life. They also discussed Hungary's semester at the presidency of the European Union and some current problems in international affairs.
